I love my boys very much, they are wonderful. Maxim is a college student, he is the man of the family because the boys are growing up without a father. Maxim knows how to do all kinds of things: he can tile the bathroom walls, fix the electric cables in the house, repair shoes and furniture. It was my father, Maxim’s grandfather, who taught him all those skills. My father is the best in the world. He’s like the father to the boys. He not only helps me raise my sons, but also supports us financially. It’s very important as well. I work as a lab technician at the university and my salary is small, so without my father’s help I wouldn’t have been able to provide for my two children.

My mother is the person my father relies on. He wouldn’t be such a wonderful dad had she not stood by his side. Because it is the woman who makes a man the real man. There was a woman behind every legendary man. Think of Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, Petrarca and Laura, Buonaparte and Josephine, and other numerous examples. I am 41 and I know that I am yet to meet my Nelson.

I am a strong woman and was born to be by a strong man’s side. My friends tell me that I’m not only strong but also courageous, since not every woman in Russia has the guts to bear a child at 39 and without the father, too. My friends also say that with me they forget about their problems, worries and sorrows and start seeing the wonderful things in life and in people. Because our life is so wonderful. Look how happy a baby is to see a bug, a flower or a ray of sunlight. We were also babies once and could see the beauty. We’ve just forgotten that we are angels with a body of flesh and that every person is unique and Godlike.

We also have a cat named Sonya. She’s the best friend and playmate of my younger son Stepan. When he is crying, Sonya distracts him and all tears are forgotten. The cat is a great help to me, she’s the best nanny for Stepan. I have a lot of plants at home and Sonya likes to eat some of them. I dream about having a dog, too. Because dogs are the most reliable and loyal friends. A cat is independent, while a dog is loyal to its master. It’s so wonderful to come home and be greeted by your beloved pets.

In summer I often go with my children and my friends to spend some time by a lake. We have wonderful woods and lakes. We love to swim, to sit by a campfire at night, to go rollerblading in the summer and skiing in the winter. I try to have fun in my life. Because life is so short and it’s important to realise your potential fully.

Not To Have Lived Your Life In Vain

It happens in life that a door is shut right in front of your nose. But it’s important to remember that there are a lot of other doors which are waiting for you further along the road, and I’m ready to open each one of them, to try every key to them, but I won’t miss my own door.

I am grateful to my parents for always being by my side, always supporting me through the hard times. I am grateful to Fate for my children, for the health I’m enjoying, for the job I love and for the love that I’ve had in this life and the love which is still to come.

I wish you all to meet your wonderful better half. Because life is given to us to love and to be loved, to give each other smiles, laughter and joy. I wish you to live your life in such a way that at the end of it you can say, ‘Yes, I have things to remember and I have not lived my life in vain!’

And this is very much like people on TAU2 who are looking for their better half, except in the past there was no such excellent opportunity as using dating sites.

My Family History

To me, my family means first of all my parents. My mother was a real Cossack girl from the Don river, one of those who were so skillfully described by Mikhail Sholokhov (a Nobel Prize winner) in his novel ‘And Quiet Flows the Don’. My father was from a family of Ukranian tanners, he came to the Don because of the great famine in the Ukraine in 1930’s. They had three children: myself, my sister and my brother. When I was a child, my grandmother Feodosiya also lived with us, she often told us about our great grandmother and great grandfather. Her stories were also full of warmth, jokes and humour even though their lives were not easy.

At the end of the 19th century, my great grandfather Nikolay had everything one could wish for. He was a Cossack, had a house, cattle, a big plot of land and was the father of five children. But his wife died while giving birth to their fifth child. At the funeral Nikolay got drunk, went outside, fell into a snowdrift and got frostbite, so that both his feet had to be amputated. The relatives and neighbours got tired of helping the big family and decided to find him a wife who would run the house. There was this young girl Sofia, whose father Moisei (a Jew who was the watchmaker of the village) died recently. And they all decided that Sofia should forget her Jewish roots, convert to Christianity and live like a proper Cossack girl.

She was baptised and brought to Nikolay’s house. The hungry children crowded around her and she rushed to the stove to cook something for them. Her cooking was very unusual but very tasty. Sofia became a good mother to the five children. People were saying that such a stepmother is better than some real mothers. In a year, in 1892, she bore a girl who was named Feodosia (Feo or Fenya for short) and who became my grandmother, the mother of my mother Nina. Sofia had no other children.

Feodosiya had dark curly hair and a pretty milk-white face with clear sky blue eyes, just like her father’s. She had angelic looks but a very mischievous character. I am very much like my mother and my grandmother in everything, both in looks and in character. I may be naïve in some things, but I’m always determined. Though, if one looks closer, I look like my father as well. It’s true that every person loves himself or herself and looks for the better half that is similar.

Having graduated from the military school in St. Petersburg, my grandfather Mikhail met the lively girl Feo at one of the parties (that was the way young people met before TAU2 was invented) and fell in love with her. They got married in 1910 and he was sent to serve in Ekaterinburg. They were given a house with a big plot of land, though not in the town itself, but in a village nearby where gold diggers lived. Cossacks were not allowed to dig for gold, but Feo was never the one to abide by the rules. Despite being almost permanently pregnant and nursing babies at the same time and against her husband’s orders, she got the necessary utensils and got to work. In the darkness of the night she dug hole after hole on their plot of land and covered them with wooden boards and tree branches for the day. She got lucky, and in two years she had panned quite a bit of gold. When they returned home, they sold the gold and bought a good house. My mother Nina was born there, in the Urals, in 1913, she was one of five children.

My family seemed to come right out of the Mark The Rich Man tale which my grandmother Feo used to tell us. Like any Christmas story, this tale had a sad beginning but a happy ending. Grandma wove the elements of all the Russian folk tales she knew into this story. We, the children, always listened to her with bated breath. Good always won the struggle against Evil, orphans found a family, hungry people were fed, freezing people were warmed up, sick people were cured and rich people were generous to those who were less fortunate. This tale has given me my role models for the rest of my life and taught me how people should be treated.

I learned to be a good host by watching my parents who always liked to invite people to our house even during the hard times — during the war and just after the war. They never got depressed, they had fun with their friends, sang songs and danced.

I am Very Proud of My Children

When I started my own family, I treated my husband and our children (two daughters and a son) the way I learned it in my kind and happy family when I was a child. Sometimes I had 30 guests come to a party at our place.

The revolution. Perestroika. The breakup of the Soviet Union… Unfortunately, Time takes away our loved ones… Now I live with my daughter Nina, who is the middle child.

My son Dmitry lives separately from us, but also in Rostov. He is a specialist in managing big companies. Unfortunately, the past year was a difficult one for our family, my son’s marriage broke up. My older daughter Natalya has been living in Saint Louis, USA, for almost 20 years. In 1992 she applied to 50 best universities of the USA and Great Britain. She was invited to Harvard, then she studied at the Washington University and got her doctorate in Law, worked as a lawyer and taught at the university. She married an American of German decent. I am very proud of my children, even though all of them are going through a hard time now.

What are my expectations on TAU2? Sometimes I think that it’s too late for me. It’s highly unlikely that I would meet a man with whom I could talk all night long like I used to talk with my late husband. But I have met some men on TAU2 whose interests are similar to my own, who want to write down their family history, like I have done. Now I want to publish my own book.

My daughter Nina is also registered on TAU2. I want her very much to find her better half here.

Whom am I proud of in my family? I’m proud of almost everyone, from my great grandfather and great grandmother to my children because all of my family members have found their own way in life, not an easy one, and based their family on loyalty, mutual honesty and sincerity.

My Family

Every person has a family and those who don’t are dreaming about having one — to share joy and sorrow, to know that you’ll be given help in any situation… My family is the most valuable thing I have. I love my mother very much because she will always understand me and support me. I adore my sister and am very proud of her: she is a wonderful wife, an excellent mother of her children.

My parents are very happy people. They live all their lives together in harmony and love, respecting and understanding each other. I would also like to have such a life with my future husband. All my relatives on my father’s side of the family are workaholics, they are persistent in achieving their goals. My great great grandfather Afanasiy shook the hand of the tsar Nikolay himself. At the time he was serving in Moscow in Semenov’s regiment. His son Semen, my great grandfather, fell in the battle for Kursk, he was only 29 years old. I look like my forefathers a lot, but as for my personality traits, I’ve inherited them from my grandmother. My grandmother has a strong will and great endurance. It was the war that made her that way: my grandmother grew up in the besieged Leningrad.

My parents instilled the proper values in me. They always told me that I should respect not only myself, but also those around me. Since my little daughter Zlata came into my life, it’s become even better. We teach her to recite poems, she is very funny when singing or telling something. She makes up stories and things! That’s how wonderful my family is! And when I have my own family, I want it to be just as strong and harmonious, so that I would wake up feeling happy every day!

My Friends

I have a lot of friends and we see each other often. I prepare for the visits beforehand and think what I would do to make my friends happy: Shall I buy a gift? Shall I bake a pie? Or shall I make something with my own hands? But however great it is to visit with friends, there’s no place like home. Because home is the cosiest and calmest place in the whole world. Home is the gentle hand of mum and the strong hand of dad on my shoulder. Home is my own city and my own street where I know every little thing. It’s the parks, the museums and monuments, the old city and the newly built multi-storied buildings. It’s the chestnuts and bird cherry trees, the poplars and the aspens in my own yard.

Our Traditions

My family gets together often. For the New Year we bake special New Year pies with a surprise: one pie has a coin, another one is made salty and the third one is very sweet. While the whole family is gathered around the table and the clock is chiming midnight, everybody picks a pie from the whole lot of them piled on a dish. The one who gets the coin will be rich in the new year, the one who gets the salty pie will have hard life and the one who gets the sweet pie will have a merry and sweet year.

Every year on November 24 (this is my parents’ wedding anniversary) dad buys the biggest and ripest pineapple and our small but close-knit and happy family eats it. My parents have never told us why the pineapple is the main treat but my dad says that on this day he would always put a pineapple on the table even if he has to travel to the tropics to get it.

As soon as the spring comes, on the first warm weekend, we go to the woods. We make a bonfire and roast shashlik (shish kebab). We greet the arrival of spring, listen to birds singing and enjoy the fresh air. This tradition exists since I was born.

I Want To Wake Up Happy

I want to have a family in which everyone feels warm and cosy, where there’s peace, love and respect. It’s important for husband and wife to share the world-view, to learn how to find a compromise in difficult situations, to have common interests and hobbies. A family united by some common passion has a much more sturdy foundation than the one built on just the habit of co-habitation. The family traditions are also important: the pie recipe that goes back to great grandmother, the family celebrations, photographs and home videos.

And most importantly, one should understand that the close ones are near and are ready to share both joy and sorrow. Egotism kills the relationship. If the family members are not used to caring for each other, to sharing both good and bad times, to striving for mutual understanding, then it’s impossible to build a lasting relationship. Perhaps, there are no ideal families, because all of us have our own drawbacks and shortcomings, our own habits and opinions. But when people are striving for the ideal, it’s already a lot! It means that they have a real chance to achieve what they desire!

To many men and women, family and relatives are the most important thing in their lives. Most people pay attention to what a potential partner writes about himself or herself, what he or she tells about the family members. Telling about family traditions, family values helps make an impression of the person and how he or she will behave in marriage.

Now you have an opportunity to attract the attention of truly suitable potential partners to your profile. Just tell about the most important things in your life: your family and your expectations for the future family life.

• First of all, tell about your family members, about the people who are dear to you, regardless of whether you live together or are separated by thousands of miles. Try to explain what ‘my family’ means to you.
• Do you keep in touch with your relatives? With which ones? Tell about your family gatherings. Do you have family traditions?
• Think of your ancestors. You must have someone in your family tree whom you are proud of. Tell about this person and why you respect him or her so much. Are you like your ancestor? In what ways?
• Tell about your friends. How often do you get together? What do you do? Do you prefer to visit your friends or to invite them to your place? What do you do when your friends come over? Do you have your own particular ways to have fun together?
• If you have pets, tell about them — they are also a part of your family, after all.
• Describe the ideal family you would like to have. What family members does it include? Who is the breadwinner? How are the chores divided between husband, wife and other family members? Which of your parents’ family traditions you would like to keep in your new family?

If you follow our guidelines, you will get a story about your family and friends, about the family traditions that you would like to keep in your new family, about your expectations of the future family life. Re-read your story and think whether it shows what kind of spouse you will be, what values will be the foundation of your future family life. Look through the family photo archive and pick the photos of your family members mentioned in your story: they will make a good illustration to the text. It would be good if the pictures show several generations of your family — together or separately. It would also be good if you and your family members are shown in a casual setting, for example, during a family celebration.

Right now you can think of your family: your parents, your grandparents, your great grandparents. Which one of them do you resemble — in appearance or character? Whose family values have you inherited? Which family traditions would you like to keep?

Send your story and photographs to blog@tau2.com. I will edit your story if necessary and then will send you the revised text for approval. If you like the revised version, your story will be published in <a href="http://blog.tau2.com/category/my-family/" title="TAU2 helps its users to find a partner with similar family values. But family is not just one’s continuation on the bodily level. There are many cases when blood relatives become blood enemies because they hold different opinions or beliefs. That’s why family is also a spiritual entity: the unity of interest, beliefs, ideas and actions. This is a place where one won’t be betrayed, where one can always count on a helping hand in hard times, where one can always get help…

My family is my children.
My family is my children. I have three children: two sons and a daughter. The older son and the daughter are already grown-up, independent people. They have got higher education, are working and have their own families. I live with my younger son Aleksei. He is 15 and goes to high school. I love my children and am proud of them.

I’m also proud of my relatives who had a difficult life full of hardship. My great-great-grandfather was from Czechoslovakia. After the war he settled in the Crimea, in Simferopol, where my father’s family comes from. My mother’s mother was like the girl named Catherine from the play ‘Thunderstorm’ by Ostrovsky. She was born into a Cossack family. When she was 16, she was married off to a man she didn’t love. She worked hard for her husband’s family and her mother-in-law was very harsh on her. After the revolution their family was dispossessed. My grandmother never said a word about her husband or any other relative until her death.

Our family has its traditions. Our favourite family holiday is the New Year. We start preparing for it well beforehand. We clean the house spotless, bake cakes and pies, cook all kinds of delicious food. And most importantly, we decorate a pretty live fir-tree. It has to be live because even the best artificial Christmas tree can’t replace the live aroma of the fir-tree which fills the whole house. This is a great event.

To be really happy I need a kindred soul with whom life would be easy and interesting, with whom I could share my deepest secrets, enojy the sunrise and create our world together.

To me, family is respecting the one I love and his interests, it’s trust, warmth in the relationship, attention to his needs, honesty and care. I dream about building the family in which love, mutual understanding, joy and happiness rule. A place where I can share everything, being sure of understanding and support. This is a journey to Paradise — together…

Soon orchids will bloom

I live with my son Anton, he will soon turn 18. Anton studies at one of the best and most progressive universities in Russia. He was very keen to enter this particular university and put a lot of effort into achieving his goal.

A fluffy cat named Fenya lives with us. She’s 12 years old. She is very willful, but very smart. We all love her very much. We have a lot of photos of our cat, there is even her portrait hanging on the wall. I love growing house plants. We have a lot of flowers at home. Soon roses and orchids will bloom.

My brother Aleksei and his family live in a country house. We often go to visit them: to talk, to get some fresh air, to make a barbeque, to play cards or lotto in the evening.

My daughter with her boyfriend come to visit us on weekends and we have family dinners together. We love to go to the theatre, movies or exhibitions together.

I Want To Give My Love

Family is the most important and valuable thing for every person. There is no one closer than your family members. In family life it’s very important to respect the opinion of another person even if you disagree sometimes. Mutual respect and mutual understanding in every thing are very important, as well as care and love, as this is what family is based on.

I would love to have a caring and loving man by my side, the man, to whom I could give my love, care and respect.

My father died a long time ago, I didn’t see him for thirty years, since I was three, as my parents were divorced. My mother is retired now, I will be very happy if she meets a worthy man and finds her happiness. My son is 17 now, he studies to become an auto mechanic. At his spare time he’s riding a bike with his friends.

Women-Lionesses and Their Pride

Our pride is my grandfather Vyacheslav who fell for his country. He took part in the Great Patriotic War, was awarded the rank of captain. He was in charge of a small group of soldiers — all that was left of their battalion, and for three days they held the line near Kamenetz-Podolski. He was killed the day before his military unit was disbanded. Posthumously, he was awarded the highest military award in the USSR, the Hero of the Soviet Union title. Stalin personally presented my late grandmother, as a widow of a military officer, with 70 hundred square metres of land. We don’t have family traditions. We just give each other presents for holidays and birhdays and eat cake. We don’t approve of alcohol and cigarettes.

We have guests who come to visit: my friends, my mother’s friends and some neighbours (we live in a nine-storey apartment building). I have few friends, it’s very hard to find the true friend but I prefer quality to quantity: I don’t make friends just to have a lot of them.

In our family all females were born under the sign of Leo — even our cat Snezhka. She is just as proud and independent as her mistresses. She doesn’t snuggles up to just anybody, she can even hiss and strike out at a stranger. I am exactly the way that women born under the sign of Leo are supposed to be. When I read horoscopes, I feel like I was the one they studied to write that description.

I Will Make A Good Wife

There are no ideal people or ideal families. There are always some things that make life difficult. I would like to see a strong and independent man by my side. Mama’s boys should look somewhere else! The beloved of a woman-Lioness is a knight, a romantic, good looking, preferably tall, generous, loyal, ready to shower his woman with gifts and attention but leaving her some breathing space as well. The relationship with him is built on trust and mutual understanding. I will make a good wife: calm, kind, caring, ready to find a compromise. I will be loyal, honest and devoted if my husband is honest with me. This is the law for me: I hate betrayal! Though I can forgive my BELOVED one a lot.

I let the man to be the breadwinner. I will be happy to be a housewife, but if there’s a chance I would like to have my own little business — something to do with the animals, as I love them very much. In the family there should be equality. I won’t stand humiliations. If my husband has his own business and needs my help, I would be happy to do it. All family members should be helping each other.

There Should Be Only One Mistress In The House

I would like my mother to find her happiness as well. And, when leaving to join my future husband, I’ll be very upset to leave her alone! I would be very happy if my husband can solve this problem.

I would prefer to share the house only with my husband and my son and have all the other relatives living nearby. Because having two mistresses in one household inevitably leads to rows as they have different tastes and different habits. This leads to quarrels, fatigue, bad mood — and divorce. And I would love to find my man, my better half, and never part with him. I’m longing for warmth, peace in my soul and understanding.
